Metal Gear Arcade
|
Metal Gear Arcade is a reworked arcade version of Metal Gear Online - the online component of popular PS3 game Metal Gear Solid 4. Developed by Kojima Productions, the machine utilises 3D visuals along with head tracking controls.
The head tracking controls are the main new addition to the arcade version. Attached to the 3D goggles is a movement sensor which tracks which direction the player is looking, and controls the players viewpoint/camera to some extent.
The Gun controller is also very advanced, with an analogue stick on the front of the gun to control the players movement. Other buttons on the gun control player actions such as crouching and changing weapons. If the player finds the 3D visuals unnecessary, it is possible to switch back to a 2D perspective by pressing a button on the cabinet.
Modes of play include Local Play via linked machines and National play where you can play with other players over the internet. There is also a Mission Mode where players can team up and tackle set missions co-operatively with up to 4 players. There is a 'Voice Chat' function that allows players to talk to one another through the microphone of the head controller, which makes it easy for players to communicate with eachother.
