Derby Owners Club 2008 is an eight player horse racing simulator which places players in the roles of breeder, trainer, jockey and owner of a thoroughbred racehorse. The game uses the Lindbergh board, and features high resolution visuals. Derby Owners Club 2008 features a 67" main monitor, as well as eight 25" LCD satellite monitors which run in full 1080p.
The game also features two different types of IC cards, with a "horse card" and "owner card" both utilised. The horse card is a thin-shaped IC card, where game details such as the name of the horse, previous results, reliability, leg quality and ability are stored, allowing players to easily manage their horse. The new IC card is an industry first, and also features improved security. The owner card is a new introduction to the Derby Owners Club series, and allows the player to store details such as player name, game clothes, various results and other private data.
