Metal Slug X is the sequel to Metal Slug 2, and is more or less an enhanced version of its predecessor. Metal Slug X improves on some of the problems found in Metal Slug 2 such as extreme slowdown, and also has a number of new weapons and enemies.

Gameplay is similar to other games in the series. The game is a side scrolling shoot em up where the player chooses from 1 of 4 characters to kill terrorists. A variety of vehicles and weapons are available.
