In Spider-Man - The Videogame, players guide Spider-Man, Black-Cat, Hawkeye and Namor the Sub-Mariner as they punch and kick their way through four levels of Dr. Doom's villains. During the game, the viewpoint changes between alternate large and small scale (four-way scrolling) sections.

Each character has a different weapon or power that can be used throughout the game while fighting. Spider-Man uses his webs, Black Cat uses her claws, grappling hook and cable, Hawkeye uses his bow and arrows and Namor uses his hydro-electric charges.
