Bandai Namco Group has formed a wholly owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Asia Co. Ltd. (oversees business in the Asian region) titled Bandai Namco India, which will establish a number of family entertainment centres across the country.

Potential in amusement and arcade has been growing in the region for some time now. The first centre to be built in Oberoi Mall, Mumbai; it will span 9,264 sq ft and opens at the end of this month. It will have a Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures theme, and feature large-scale children's play equipment, as well as one of India's largest redemption zones, according to a PR Newswire report.

Massaharu Igarashi, President of Bandai Namco Asia Co. Ltd., said, "Expansion in the fast growing and increasingly affluent Asian region is a key component of the group’s mid-term vision plan. With a wholly-owned subsidiary, we now have a direct presence in one of the largest markets in Asia – India.”

He continued, “We believe Indian audiences are ready for entertainment facilities of global standards and it will become one of the fast growing new markets for our group."

Takeo Yagi, director and COO of Bandai Namco India, added: “Mumbai, despite being India’s second largest city, does not have that many world-class entertainment facilities. The new centre from Bandai Namco will not only address that gap, it will also put Mumbai on the world map of Bandai Namco centres.”

This is just the latest example of the restructuring and expansion that have been happening within Bandai Namco over the last few months, which also included a name change of the central company and expanding their business into licensing.
