ENADA Rome, organised by Rimini Fiera SpA, will be held at the Italian capital's expo centre from 13-16 October 2005 and will spotlight a trade with approximately 5,000 enterprises and a workforce of over 60,000. The lucrative Italian coin-op trade includes small and medium sized firms distributed all over the country, with a 2004 turnover that reached an estimated total of 1,200 million euros. According to Rimini Fiera SpA, of the 23 billion euros collected by the State for public games, approximately 20% comes from the coin-op sector. The organisation highlighted some statistics which illustrate the trade's dimensions; 1,000 type-tested models, 395,000 distribution authorisations issued to manufacturers/importers, 144,000 business authorisations granted to network licensees of which 102,000 were substitutes and 42,000 new, 93,000 machines installed and 50,000 machines in stock. According to Rimini Fiera SpA almost 32,000 electromechanical AWG machines are installed in Italy, approximately 20,000 between video games and simulators and 40,000 mechanical units, such as table soccer, darts, billiards, pinball machines and pushers.
In Italy, there are approximately 120,000 AWP machines currently in circulation and Rimini Fiera SpA said the Nation is one of the few countries in Europe and throughout the world offering development prospects for these machines over the next five years, with capacity for its street locations and arcades to accommodate at least twice the AWP machines currently in circulation. The show organisers said this development can happen if the machines can be networked, and if the law No. 326/03 can be modified. The modifications Rimini Fiera SpA suggests are needed to the law include taxing venue and machine owners net profits instead of takings, so that win percentages for players can be raised.
