First G Star Trade Show Exceeds Expectations

The debut of the Korean G Star trade show set records with over 150,000 people attending the four day event in November 2005, qualifying the claims that G Star is one of the world's top three game shows. The G Star trade show included arcade, console and PC games with special highlights on online and mobile games. Although both E3 and the Tokyo show have a history of over ten years, G Star's attendance figures are already competitive. Its debut event attracted more visitors than the well established E3 (100,000 visitors) and the same number as the Tokyo show, according to G Star organisers.156 exhibitors from 15 countries displayed their products at G Star 2005, with sales negotiated during the show amounting two million dollars. According to the GSTAR organising committee, the 2005 event drew 15,000 visitors in the first day and 20,000 visitors in second day. More than 115,000 people flocked during the weekend bringing the total number of visitors to 152,790. Visitors to the booths included approximately 2,000 buyers from 80 companies over 33 countries. Korean and overseas companies were able to negotiate during the 2005 G Star to the tune of 400 billion WON worth of imports and exports. Of this, arcade game trade amounted 150 billion WON. 90% of the exhibitors at the 2005 event have already promised to take part in the 2006 show.
