Initial D Hits Big Time in the UK

Sega Europes latest driving game Inital D, following the sell out success in Japan this game looks set to take the UK by storm. The single 29" sit-down cabinet can be linked up to 2 players and utilises Sega's unique Memory Card Reader and Dispenser. The memory card allows players to turn an ordinary road car into a customised super car. Each time they race the player accumulates competition points which allows them to add new parts and tune the car to improve performance. The information is then stored allowing the player to return to game and progress from where they left off.

One of the first customers to receive this game was Family Leisure's Alan Rawlinson. He explained ‘we have already taken over £7000 in the first 4 weeks with our best week's income a little over £2300. We have had players queuing to play for over an hour, it's simply incredible!' Another very happy customer is Namco Operation's Tony Markou. Tony commented ‘Initial D has been in our Trafford, Manchester location for 3 weeks now and has been an instant success as one of the locations top earning machine with revenue generated well in excess of £1000 per week. The success of this product continues at Bowlplex's Brighton location where Tim Cox told us that they have not had a driving game this accomplished since Sega Rally 2. "We currently have the game price at 50p per play, last week the income generated was £932. These levels of income are quite simply outstanding; I can't wait to take delivery of our next order."
