Newcastle Pinball Association Hosting Pinfest 2013

For the second year in a row, the Newcastle Pinball Association will be hosting Pinfest - a charity festival for pinball collectors and enthusiasts to dust off their machines and meet like-minded individuals.

The festival will be held at the Caves Beachside Hotel on Saturday September 21st from 9:30am-1pm and then from 2pm-5:30pm, and on Sunday September 22nd from 10am-3pm. Entry is $10 for a single admission and $20 for a family admission.

Pinfest 2013 aims to bring together collectors and fans to show case what pinball culture is all about and to show case gaming culture before home electronic consoles exploded onto the market.

It will also be raising money for the SIDS and Kids charity which is dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood and supporting bereaved families.

The festival will feature a number of modern, retro and vintage pins which will be set to free-play for attendees to enjoy. Collectors and enthusiasts will be coming from all over the place (some will be coming from interstate) to show off their machines and answer all and any questions about pinball.

With over 30 pins currently booked to exhibit at this years annual Pinfest and more to be announced soon, this years festival is set to be bigger then before. Some of the pins lined up for the event so far include classics like Bally's Key West (1956) and King Tut (1969) pinball, and modern favourites such as the Addams Family (1992)by Bally, Jurassic Park (1993) by Data East and the Sopranos (2004) by Stern.

Highway Entertainment, who is a major sponsor of the event, will also be present. Highway Entertainment will be representing the arcade sector of the amusement industry, to complement the pinball celebration. It will be Highway's first time exhibiting at a public event in Newcastle and will be exhibiting machines such as the Road Fighters 3D driving machine, the Pacman Battle Royale, Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion, Initial D6, some Classic LCD Arcade Tables and the GameWizard Vewlix.

On the Saturday night, from around 6:30 onwards, the Pinball Competition will commence. There are 50 spots open for competitors and they are filling up quick, so if you think your fast on the flipper and would like to compete, you will need to email the Newcastle Pinball Association at npa@people.net.au for information and competition details.

During last year's festival, Pinfest managed to raise $6500 for SIDS and Kids, and are hoping to raise at least $7500 mark this year to donate to this amazing charity. So come on down to Caves Beach on September 21 and 22, play some pins, play some arcade games and join in the fun!
