The First Multiplayer VR Arcade Shooter

Among many other blockbuster arcade games, Sega demonstrated their first ever multiplayer interactive VR shooter arcade machine at the Entertainment, Attractions & Gaming International Expo 2022 in London last week. The new machine, titled ‘VR Agent’ has been demonstrated previously at IAAPA 2021 but is still yet to hit arcade floors.

VR Agent is completely attendant-free, featuring VR headsets that drop down once credit is inserted and dual gun controllers for multiplayer co-op action. On top of this, VR Agent can link to another cabinet, allowing for 4 player interactive VR gameplay.

Sega Amusements claim the VR technology is “an evolution in VR gaming” with the machine featuring an air-canon, which jolts players when hit by enemy bullets for deep immersion into the virtual reality. Spectators can watch the gameplay live on the dual 50-inch monitors. While the game features 5 missions requiring players to shoot and kill human enemies, the game can be set to ‘robot mode’ for a “family-friendly” option.

You can see the demonstration of VR Agent, along with a wrap of Sega’s other displays at EAG in the video below.
