The first European deliveries of Namco's Ridge Racer V have been made, with the game earning plaudits from one of the UK's major operators.

Alan Macleod, Rank Leisure Machine Services' product manager with responsibility for video, believes that one of the key features of the upright version is its ability to work in any environment: "From an operators' perspective, the beauty of the upright is that it can be sited across a range of locations including pubs, motorway service stations and seasonal arcades," he explained. "This flexibility means that we are able to maximise the full income potential of the game."

On the play appeal of Ridge Racer V, Alan Macleod said: "The graphics are smooth, the sensation of speed is exceptional and the game can be learnt by novice players and enjoyed by mid-range and expert drivers."
