Arcade Planet, Inc., and Leisure and Allied Industries (LAI) today announced that they have entered into a strategic alliance for the manufacture, sales and international distribution of their respective arcade game products.
Under terms of the agreement, Arcade Planet will become the exclusive distributor of LAI game products for North and South America and LAI will become the exclusive distributor of Arcade Planet's Lazer-Tron game product line in Australia, New Zealand, India and most of the Asian region. The commencement date of the new arrangements will be April 1, 2001.
The principals of both Arcade Planet and LAI see the distribution agreement as a positive step forward with each party handling their respective regions for both product lines. Each of the companies has a large customer base, together with a strong and well-organized sales and marketing infrastructure within its part of the world. This will bring marketing power and distribution efficiency not currently available to the parties individually.
In addition to the reciprocal distribution agreements the parties will also be exploring other avenues of cooperation in the areas of product development, manufacturing and information and technology sharing to create further efficiencies and benefits for both companies.
Malcolm Steinberg, CEO of LAI Group, said, "Arcade Planet has a strong stable of innovative arcade products which are very complimentary to the LAI Games product line. By manufacturing the Products in Asia and by selling them through the established LAI network we hope to achieve a strong market penetration for Lazer-Tron products."
Norman Petermeier, CEO for Arcade Planet, stated that, "LAI has a growing range of solid earning ticket redemption and prize vending games available at very affordable price points. With Arcade Planet's strong marketing and distribution infrastructure in the Americas behind these products there is a huge sales potential in a depressed North and South American market."
LAI opened it's own US office in January last year to launch it's LAI Games products in the US market and in a short period of time has built a strong and respected reputation with distributors and operators. As part of the deal with Arcade Planet the current LAI Games office in San Diego will be closing on March 30, 2001. As of April 1, 2001, future Lazer-Tron and LAI Games product inquiries from customers in the American and Asian regions should be directed as follows:
