Merit Industries unveiled its new product line at the 2001 ASI show including Merit's Tavern Entertainment System, a hybrid of a System Megatouch™ console and a TouchTunes jukebox.

This fully integrated system allows customers playing games on a Merit System Megatouch™ console to select and pay for music from the TouchTunes jukebox without leaving their seats. This invaluable convenience taps into the players' impulse buy instinct, translating into greater cashbox earnings for the operator.

"The Tavern Entertainment System has unlimited potential in the coin-op industry," remarked Dave Myers, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. "Players love the convenience of being able to select music from their seat without leaving their game and operators love the additional revenue flow. It's win-win for everyone."

Merit also wowed operators with its MAXX™ Elite unit, featuring the new internal bill acceptor. This unit sports a bill acceptor underneath the screen instead of the traditional sidecar design and gives it a sleek, eye-catching, fresh look. This new feature creates a slimmer design, answering operator needs for compact machines to open doors to locations sensitive to space restraints.

Also on the design front, Merit showed off the multiple configuration possibilities afforded by the MAXX™ kiosk. This innovation allows operators to purchase a group of individual game units and combine them into a single piece of modular furniture, giving players a feeling of centralized excitement. Adding TournaMAXX™ to the mix has proven to be an exceptional marketing tool for the kiosk, increasing patron excitement through local competition and offering a wide array of promotional opportunities.

"Merit likes to be on the cutting edge with the look and feel of our game systems," said Myers. "I think we've accomplished that and more with these new designs."

Merit's highly anticipated TournaMAXX Global Player Ranking System™ was also showcased for operators at ASI and the excitement was evident. "Operator acceptance of the TournaMAXX™ system was huge," said Bob Mills, Director of Network Business for Merit Industries. "This system is on the cutting edge and the operators can sense it. Operators continually commented that Merit is on to something big here and we agree."

TournaMAXX™ links systems on a global scale, allowing players everywhere to compete against one another using the industry's latest technology.

"While Merit embraces the limitless possibilities of the TournaMAXX™ system, it is also not turning its back on the core business philosophy that has kept Merit thriving for over two decades," said Dave Myers. "We're not about to ‘bet the farm' on the outcome of the TournaMAXX™ system, although we certainly believe it will be a resounding success," he said. "We're a solid, reliable company who will continue to thrive and grow without relying on speculative schemes to do so."

"Our new products feature all the newest innovations to generate player interest," Myers added. "Heightened player interest translates to greater returns for operators. It gives them the tools to be successful in our industry."
