Is gaming getting as close to hand as the button on a PC? That's the inevitable question in need of an answer following the latest move by RAL Holdings, operator of the UK's largest chain of inland gaming centres, to launch its Cyberslotz website.

The site, which has an imminent go-live date, has secured an internet exclusive agreement with low payout slot machine manufacturer Electrocoin for the company's Bar X machine. The development is believed to be the first of its kind in the fledgling i-gaming sector.

Nick Harding, RAL's Group Managing Director, said: "Bar X is arguably the most successful and popular machine of its type in the history of British gaming. Our exclusive agreement represents another key building block for the Cyberslotz gaming experience."

Electrocoin's John Stergides was equally bullish about the agreement: "During a long and distinguished history, Bar X has achieved a number of accolades. Without doubt the most significant is the association with Cyberslotz's i-gaming platform which represents the future of our industry."

Cyberslotz Managing Director Brian Morgan believes that, when the law allows, the new web service will dovetail neatly with RAL's 130 Quicksilver Gaming Centres; a classic clicks-and-bricks relationship. "Quicksilver can drive business from off-line towards on-line and Cyberslotz can do the same in the opposite direction," he said. "We will be liaising closely with all of the regulatory authorities to ensure that we do not pre-empt the anticipated changes in UK gambling laws."

Cyberslotz is understood to be in the midst of similar discussions with a number of international gaming manufacturers, although no further confirmation was available from the company.
