ATE Announces Gambling Industry Forum
ATE – organisers of the annual Amusement Trades Exhibition International/ International Casino Exhibition – together with The Gambling Consultancy have announced details of the Gambling Industry Forum which is being staged in London on Wednesday 31 October 2001.

The one-day event, which is being headlined as ‘A definitive analysis of the threats and opportunities created by the Gambling Review', will draw on the expertise of key opinion-formers drawn from all sectors of the gambling industry.

Roger Withers of Littlewoods Leisure, Lady Cobham representing the British Casino Association, Professor Neville Topham of Salford University and gambling expert Lord Donoughue will chair the Forum. Presented in four clear sections the Gambling Industry Forum will deal with a range of contentious issues generated by the recommendations of the recent Budd Report. The Forum will pose questions central to the development of the gambling industry including:

  • - Is the UK now in the world market place?
  • - What are the financial implications of responsible gambling?
  • - What are the costs and benefits of extending to on-line operation?
  • - Can resort casinos and US-style gambling tourism work in the UK?
  • - What has the industry asked for and will it get it?
  • - How and when can new UK gambling legislation be expected?
