Organisers of London's International Casino Exhibition (ICE) have responded to requests from within the industry for a dedicated Recruitment Zone at January's event.

The initiative, which was first raised by the ICE Development Committee, will comprise a dedicated area where industry professionals seeking a career change can leave their CV's with a recruitment consultant independent of the industry and sourced by ICE. Only those companies subscribing to the Recruitment Zone will receive the CV's with applicants able to specify any organisations to which they don't wish to be circulated.

Greg Brown of Princess Cruises, one of the first companies to sign up to the Recruitment Zone, believes that the new initiative will work on a number of levels: "Obviously for an organisation likes ours the quality of experienced and professional staff attending ICE makes it an ideal place for recruitment," he said. "By providing an organised facility for job seekers it also takes the pressure off exhibitors who can frequently become side-tracked from the main business of selling by people touting for job vacancies."

Karen Cooke, sales manager for ICE, was quick to credit the input made by the Development Committee. "After ICE 2001 where the Zone was trailed, we sat down with the Committee to review how it could be improved," she said. "The Development Committee comprises both visitors and exhibitors and it was on the basis of their input that we have introduced important new elements, notably the need for a totally independent recruitment consultant."

The Recruitment Zone is the third dedicated area at ICE 2002 joining the Machine Components and the i-Gaming Zones.
