Six Flags Expands Deployment Of VR Performance Theaters™ To Eight Parks

Six Flags, Inc. has purchased five additional VR Performance Theaters from Ham On Rye: one to be installed immediately after IAAPA 2001 at Six Flags Over Texas, and four more for parks in the 2002 season.

Randy Sprout, Ham On Rye's President, describes the recent move: "Six Flags is now convinced of the consistent earning power of our attraction, as we have proven high levels of profitability now in three out of three parks. In addition, the daily revenue data across the 2001 season shows strong durability of financial performance, and higher than expected levels of repeat play with season pass holders. This evidence projects the attraction's earning ability for multiple seasons."

The VR Performance Theater was the winner of the Best New Product award and the Image award at IAAPA 2000, and 16 units have been sold to a growing variety of amusement venues, public sites, and retail centers worldwide. Theaters in the field are consistently averaging over $15,000 per week and as high as $5,100 on peak days.

Ham On Rye and Six Flags have had a strengthening relationship over the course of the last 16 months. Originally, Six Flags tested the first VR Performance Theater prototype at its Great Adventure park in New Jersey in the Fall of 2000. Based on this successful test, Six Flags, Ham On Rye, and Betson Enterprises jointly installed a unit on a revenue share at Six Flags Over Georgia in May 2001. The revenues and popularity of this theater exceeded expectations, and in July 2001, Six Flags directly purchased this theater from Betson and Ham On Rye, and purchased two additional units for its parks in Chicago and St. Louis.
