Photo Play 2001/2002 Netherlands champion - Hank Albers
This year alone 1.4 million positive games were played in Holland. This number clearly
proves how popular Photo Play is in this country. In March a tournament was held in Tilburg's Willem II stadium to determine the Netherlands' Photo Play champion.
8,000 players competed in Photo Play's All-round 2001/2002 championships preliminary
round. 13 best players were chosen to move the championship and battle for the much-desired title.
The reigning champ Robert Snoeren was amongst the finalists. The action started shortly before the soccer match Willem II against Sparta began. During the first round, players had 20 minutes to clear the high score of three games. The top four players automatically qualified for the finals. These four were able to play for the title of Netherlands' Photo Play champion as soon as the soccer pros had their turn and cleared
the field.
The finals were transmitted via two large-size video screens. The field eventually narrowed to two competitors title defender Robert Snoeren and Henk Albers. After a grueling struggle Robert Snoeren was forced to pass the title to Henk Albers.
Albers, who is an inspired Photo Play player, is no stranger to the Photo Play team. After all, he is one of the loyal Photo Play forum co-writers on the Photoplay homepage. The entire Photo Play team congratulates Albers to this outstanding success!
