Sega Europe Annouces Shootout Pool

Sega Europe Annouces Shootout Pool
Sega Europe Annouces Shootout Pool
Initially previewed at this years ATEI to much acclaim. Shootout Pool is scheduled to be manufactured in early May. The game which is housed in the Naomi Universal cabinet uses a miniature pool cue and an ergonomically designed control unit which gives the player the real feel of playing either 8 ball or 9 ball pool.

Shootout Pool is a true to life pool simulator set in the dimly lit back rooms of pool hustling. It features realistic physics, which faithfully recreates the experience of a real life pool table. The intuitive interface control unit and realistic physics allow you to impress your challengers with true to life pool techniques and shots including; Backspin, Swerve, like English, Top, Side, Masse and Jumping.

Sega Amusements Europe Ltd, Sales Director – Paul Williams commented "Anyone who remembers the titanic tussle between Minnesota Fats and Fast Eddie played by Paul Newman in the 1961 film The Hustler will thoroughly enjoy this game. It has been designed to faithfully recreate all the real life experiences of a pool table. The advantage to the operator is that it takes approximately 1/12th the floor space of a full size pool table and is hence ideal for smaller bars and Maximising Return per Sq. Meter."

"Additionally the Versus Computer mode allows player to play on their own. We have undergone extensive testing on this game over the past 8-9 months including test site with and without traditional pool tables. The income results are excellent in both cases. Even where there is a traditional pool table, players play Shootout Pool either to practice or whilst they are waiting for the pool table to become free. Additionally many customers to bars feel uncomfortable waiting to play an opponent that they do not know if the venue operates a Winner Stays On policy."

The game has 4 playing modes:
  • Versus the computer. Where the player has a choice of playing against 12 different computer generated opponents each with their own speciality trick shot and ability level.
  • Versus another player.
  • Practice. Where players can fine-tune their pool prowess.
  • Tournament Mode. This feature allows operators to run an in house tournament to increase customer loyalty.
Players can vie to become the best Pool Hustler in a variety of joints including a NightClub, Old Bar, Pool Bar and Convention Hall settings.

Keep your eye on the action. Designed on the powerful Nomi 1 board the game allows 360* panning, zooming and the ability to play from both 2-D and 3-D perspectives.
