Beatmania II DX 16: Empress includes over 520 songs from a variety of genres, including over 50 new songs. The game can be played by one or two players, and Konami's e-AMUSEMENT is supported.
The theme of Beatmania II DX: Empress is very distinct, with the interface consisting of very bright glossy pink colours, and images such as butterflies and jewels.
Beatmania IIDX cabinet controls consist of two turntables, and two keyboards each with seven keys. Other notable features of the Beatmania IIDX cabinet are the widescreen 16:9 display; and the powerful speakers and bass platform that vibrates beneath the player's feet.
The gameplay involves the player selecting a song, with the player then having to match the notes by pressing the keys and scratching the turntable in time with the music.
