Guitar Freaks 5th Mix introduces the new "Multisession Mode", where the machine can link together with Keyboardmaina 3rd mix and Drum Mania 4th mix, with up to 5 players able to play together simultaneously (two on Keyboardmania 3rd Mix, two on Guitar Freaks 5th Mix, and one on Drummania 4th Mix). When linked with Keyboardmania, about a dozen songs are available to play.
Guitar Freaks 5th mix also adds 33 new songs, with over 100 songs now available for players. Gameplay remains the same from previous titles, with the player using a simulated guitar controller to play the notes of a chosen songs guitar part as they are displayed on the screen.
