Half Life 2 for the arcade is a customised version of the PC shooting game of the same name. In Half Life 2, players assume the character of research scientist, Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted and its population dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa in the original Half Life. The arcade version of Half Life 2 features several game modes including a story-based mission, where players can opt for single or multi-player, and an online mission where players can compete with each other on the Japanese networked cabinets. User profiles are stored on Taito's own servers and can be accessed from anywhere on the network. The game runs on Taito's Type X hardware.
