Soul Edge is a 3D weapons based fighting game from Namco. It was the first game in the Soul series of fighting games for arcades, and was followed by Soul Calibur. It was one of the first breakthrough 3D fighting games with great graphics and varied characters.
The player actually feels like they are in full control of the character they are playing because of the smooth-flowing graphics that allows them to move in a range of directions, not just forward, back, left and right.
Namco also released an updated version - Soul Edge Ver. 2 - which addressed the high difficulty level, made Cervantes playable, added Guard Impacts and Air Combos, and upgraded the movelists for all characters.
