AmEx 2008 Show Report
AmEx 2008 - The 29th Irish Gaming & Amusement Trade Exhibition was held at the Green Isle Hotel, Dublin on Tuesday 4 & Wednesday 5 March 2008. The number of exhibitors and visitors were both up by more than 10 percent, and new exhibitors resulted in a greater variety of products being offered.

There was a broadening of the visitor base to include Casinos and Betting Shops in addition to the traditional Gaming and Amusement operators. There was also a noticeable increase in the number of visitors from locations such as Bowling and Play Centres.

New exhibitors included British companies, anxious to conduct business abroad while the industry at home currently offers them very few opportunities, and companies offering equipment for the developing casino and betting markets in Ireland.

Exhibitors at AmEx 2008 included:

  • Crown had a range of games on offer including Bell Fruit Club Cops N Robbers, Big Tony's Texas Hold ŒEm, Skill Ball Bingo, Blockbuster, The Simpsons Skateboard Stomp, Sega Virtua Tennis 3, UFO Catcher and Elaut Goooal crane.

  • Kimble showed their popular multigames which have 10 games including 5 video slots, 2 video fruits, 2 pokers and 1 bingo, all with UBA bill acceptors and touchscreen. They also showed the automated roulette from Set Productions which is an 8 player with touchscreen and remote terminals can be placed anywhere in the arcade.

  • Elaut from Belgium were exhibiting their Management System which is cashless and has bonus features and the KATE cash terminal which allows the operator to better use the cash flow in his casino as it doubles as a cash point whereby all bills that go in are used in the cash back system.

  • Brent Sales brought a large selections of games to AmEx including Sweetland Premia sweet dispenser, Deal Or No Deal, Glena-Flex prize redemption, Family Bowlz, Big Buck Hunter Safari, Barber Cut prize redemption and Midnight Maximum Tune 3. They also brought along some kiddie rides including Pirates Of The Caribbean and Balamory kiddie bus.

  • Laser Electronics exhibited their Texas Hold ŒEm and Red Hot Joker deluxe and their new dual vision cabinet which can have one game on the top screen and another on the bottom screen.

  • Vegas Ireland showed their popular Black Horse video multigame system, which comes with 21 games, including roulette, black jack and bingo.

  • Genesis Games displayed their Multigame Terminal (MGT) and slant tops with remote stations hooked up to a 10 player roulette; Pharao II with advanced graphics and bonus features; Multiliner with four Amatic top videos including slots and video blackjack and roulette; Admiral Nelson and Frog Princess and the JVL retro with 150 tournament enabled games for amusement only.

  • SB Machines increased the size of their stand this year to facilitate their two popular games Da Vinci Mystery pusher and The Magic Safe, both of which are manufactured by Van De Wege International from Belgium.

  • Donegal Leisure showed their Gold Rush video slot with 15 line multiplier which they manufacture themselves. It also comes in a high security cabinet and contains the only software programme made in Ireland.

  • Q Leisure showed the Videobet server based and stand alone multigame platform with high resolution graphics and up to 60 games per machine. They come in new slimline 17 inch twin screen, high security casino cabinet and are suitable for arcades, casinos and single sites.

  • Superleague Ireland exhibited the popular digital audio / video MaxFire jukebox from TAB Austria which has both coin and note acceptors and music that can be updated on line or manually.

  • Automatic Amusements & Sound Leisure again exhibited together and showed their video screens which are available in aluminium and wood surround as well as Music Express, Music Post II, Browser, Kiosk II, Music On Line and Nostalgia digital jukeboxes.

  • Hazel Electronics had a selection of parts on show including 60 LED GU10 and MR16 halogen replacement lights, LED fluorescent replacements from 9 inch to 48 inch with ultra low energy and Site Manager which can now work on SAS machines.

  • Deith Group presented Octavian's Pilot School; Free Wild 6 multigames and Evona Electronic¹s Octavia Roulette.

  • Sam Leisure have found a growing market for sports themed air hockey and English and American pool tables including football, rugby and American football, and exhibited products along these lines, and a new 8 Ball cue rack holding 9 cues.

  • Innovative Technology had NV200 which was successfully launched at ICE 2008, and they also offered BV20 and BV100 and had received a great deal of interest from visitors and exhibitors at AmEx.

  • Cashpoint, from Austria, exhibited their Sports Betting Terminal with games including soccer and tennis. It has in-game betting while the game is being played, and the unit is also an internet terminal.

  • Cosmic Video Amusements showed Poker Tek, a two player head to head Texas Hold ŒEm poker, Sega Shoot This Win This and Global VR Blazing Angels.

  • Noraut displayed their range of poker machines with linked jackpots which links up to five machines along with Noraut Gold five reel fruit machines. They co-exhibited with Electrocoin who showed Stern Pinball Wheel Of Fortune and Tutti Frutti redemption game.

  • Almotech were appointed distributors for the range of games from Games Warehouse, UK and Merit, USA during the AmEx exhibition. They showed the Merit touchscreen game Aurora, the Paragon TT games terminal and the Infiniti Digital Multigame AWP from Games Warehouse. They also showed the Almotech AMI jukebox and the TAB Golden Island touchscreen multigame terminal.

  • The Novelty Capsule Company showed their new plush range for 2008 along with their Tattoos and Stickers machine. They also showed a range of soft toys including Wally The Kangaroo, Jakers and Winnie The Pooh.
