Dates Set for 2004 AMOA Show

The dates for the 2004 AMOA Expo and Fun Expo have been set for Thursday, September 30 to Saturday, October 2, in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV.

The Amusement & Music Operators Association (AMOA), in response to its originally-scheduled 2004 show dates being on top of the Jewish Holiday of Rosh Hashanah in mid-September, had opted to move the dates of its show to October 7-9 in Vegas, but subsequently learned its revised dates conflicted with the World Waterpark Association's annual show, as well as some European trade venues.

Following discussion among the partners of Fun Expo, the owners of both shows determined that September 30 to October 2 would be the best available dates for the collocated events next year.

"Finalising dates for next fall—and specifically trying to determine which ones work best for our attendees, exhibitors and respective members—has been a challenge," said AMOA President Chris Warren.

"Historically, the mid-September slot is the optimal time for our shows, but between Labor Day, the Jewish Holidays, and conflicts with other domestic and international events, finding workable dates within that time period proved to be quite elusive. Leaders of AMOA and Fun Expo—along with our trade show management at W.T. Glasgow, Inc.—reviewed many options and agreed on these dates."

Harold Skripsky, chairman of the LETS (Leisure & Entertainments Trade Shows - a joint venture which owns Fun Expo) said the exercise in securing dates proved just how full the industry's calendar is these days.

"We'll start next year's three-day shows in September and finish in October. While it's later in the season than we usually are and frankly like to be - we are confident these dates will work just fine. We're excited about continuing to build on the momentum from this year's show," Mr Skripsky said.
