Sega & Nintendo Work Together
Whilst the release of Nintendo Cube has been delayed until September, Sega has officially confirmed that it is currently working on games for the Nintendo GameCube console, including the software teams that created the Daytona and Sonic series.

Tetsu Kayama, Sega's CO-CEO, confirmed they are working on games for the Nintendo GameCube console. In a Famitsu report, Sega's internal studios--including Sonic Team and Amusement Vision--are already working on GameCube games. Sonic Team is of course responsible for the Sonic series, and games such as Phantasy Star Online, while Amusement Vision has developed games in the Daytona and Virtua Striker series.

Sega currently plans to release 118 games in total during the fiscal year ending March 2002, adding up to 53 titles for the Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube systems, and a whopping 65 games for its discontinued Dreamcast console. Kayama further revealed that many of those GameCube and Xbox titles will be shown in playable form at the upcoming E3 Expo in Los Angeles.

The close working relationship between Nintendo and Sega is evident in recent press releases. Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi;

"Sega really understands what Nintendo is about and where we're headed. We've made progress in our relationship, and Sega plans to aggressively support GameCube and Game Boy Advance with their software. Contrary to rumors earlier this year, Sega is in a position to take care of themselves financially without our help."
