Theme Park & Attraction Bizarre – Part Two
The second part of the Stinger IAAPA roundup offers a look at those exhibitors that focused on the theme park and attractions sector with a growth in capsule and individual simulators and the launch of 4D and beyond theatre experiences. The leading trends that shaped the buyers choices this year are also given a spotlight.

EU Directives Swirl Round Amusement!
Stinger Scoop! If you thought the amusements trade dodged a bullet with the video violence issue, don't relax just yet. Now comes the environmental assault on the industry. Two sets of proposed regulation in the UK would restrict the use of certain substances that may be contained in the electronic circuitry of many amusement machines. If these rules are adopted (which seems likely) and if these substances are found to be present in our products (also likely), the UK industry would have three short years to get into compliance. After that, thousands of UK machines could be subject to recalls, and many operators could be hit with fines. What's more, the whole issue could (and in certain cases, definitely will) leap to the rest of Europe and the USA faster than panic over Mad Cow Disease. Industry trade associations should take bold action immediately. So far, they haven't.
