About Virtua Tennis

Virtua Tennis is a widely popular, classic tennis game from Sega. Also known as Power Smash, Virtua Tennis features 8 ATP tour players, 5 stadiums and 4 different court surfaces. Modes available include Tournament Mode, Exhibition Mode, Training Mode and World Circuit.

Modes available include tournament mode, training mode, exhibition mode and world circuit. In tournament mode, players must win all 5 matches to be crowned champion. The matches all take place in different stadiums, with 5 stadiums in total. Of these stadiums, there are 4 different court surfaces available, including hard, clay, grass and carpet surfaces. The matches included in tournament mode are Australian Challenge, French Court, US Super Tennis, Old English Championship, and Sega Grand Match.

World Circuit mode is the main mode in Virtua Tennis, with players needing to win matches and complete training exercises to unlock new matches and progress further. Players start this mode ranked 300th on the tour, however this improves as matches are won, with the player ultimately aiming to become number 1 in the world.

Training mode features training exercises, with each exercise featuring three different difficulty levels. If a training exercise is completed on the hardest difficulty, it is possible to unlock outfits.

Exhibition matches allow players to customize the gameplay and style of match. Players can choose to play singles or double matches, and can select options such as the court and the match length.

The real life ATP players featured in Virtua Tennis are Jim Courier, Tommy Haas, Tim Henman, Thomas Johansson, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Carlos Moya , Mark Philippoussis and Cedric Pioline.
