Atari Arcade Games Getting Film Adaptations
Two famous Atari arcade games, Centipede and Missile Command, are getting film adaptations following a deal with Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films.

Atari CEO Fred Chesnais said the company was "thrilled to partner with Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films to develop feature films based on two of our most beloved titles. Centipede and Missile Command are part of Atari's unparalleled and rich library of popular games and we cannot wait to see the movies come to life."

Centipede and Missile Command are classic Atari titles that were released at the beginning of the golden age of arcade in the 1980s. These much loved games were a favourite of arcade goers and still maintain their popularity among retrogame lovers today.

There is no word yet from the studios on the type of direction they are going to take with the films and no other details – such as screenplay, director, casting, etc. – has been announced yet. All we know so far is that Randall Emmett and George Furla will produce, and Atari, Stephen Belafonte, Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones will be executive producers on the film projects.

Emmett called the games “immensely popular titles have been enjoyed by generations of gamers worldwide. We look forward to a very successful partnership and to bringing Centipede and Missile Command to the big screen.”

The Atari news comes on the back of news that the Sega classic Shinobi was set to his the silver screen, and follows the movie announcement for Rampage starring Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson (yet to be released) and Adam Sandler’s Pixels (released in 2015).
