Merit Very Pleased With Domestic Testing
Merit Industries has been very pleased with the test results of it's TournaMAXX Global Player Ranking System which will be unveiled at this month's ASI Trade Show.

"So far, the buzz from our test sites has been astonishing," said Bob Mills, Merit's Director of Network Business. "Some of our most successful domestic operators had been reporting a 50% average increase with the use of our Megatouch Diamond Edition software alone. Now the exceptional results from the test launch of TournaMAXX show that operators are even more successful, and Merit can reaffirm that its number one priority is, and always has been, to keep our operators healthy and happy."

The TournaMAXX Global Player Ranking System is an on-line tournament service that links to the Merit Server by use of a standard phone line and an Internet modem. Not only are players challenged in their local taverns and pubs by popular games such as Power Trivia™, Boxxi™ and Moondrop™, they are also competing with players participating the same games around the world.

"The TournaMAXX system builds on the long tradition of operator-controlled, on-premise promotions, with the added convenience of using equipment that has already been purchased. We have answered the call from operators wishing to run their own tournaments using existing equipment. TournaMAXX is Merit's way of giving the operators the biggest returns on their investment," said Mills.

"The nationwide tournament system that is run by Merit can be a gold mine for operators," continued Mills. "Merit-sponsored tournaments keep people coming back for more and in test locations that are using the system, we've seen a real sense of community among players that is developing and driving competition. Operators who utilize this spirit of community and competitions are in for healthy returns," Mills explained.

The TournaMAXX feature of localized operator "Level 2" ™ promotion sets the operator's route above the competition by providing players and locations with scores and challenges they can identify with. "It's not always that person who nobody knows from that town that nobody heard of that wins in the localized operator Level 2 ™ event," said Mills. "It uses that ‘big fish in a small pond' spirit to really drive repeat play and keep players identifying with the promotion."

A nationwide beta test of the TournaMAXX Global Player Ranking System was held at approximately 200 locations across the country, and the results are astounding. After installing TournaMAXX, the average operator's weekly collections increased by more than $75. That percentage translates into an average weekly percentage increase of more than 55% per location.

Nebraska Technologies' Rod Kruse was impressed by the results provided by the TournaMAXX system. "Earnings are up and our customers love the global ranking feature," he said. "TournaMAXX is great. It's exactly what we needed."

Lou Manolios of PNL Vending in Pittsburgh, PA agreed. "After installing a test version of the TournaMAXX system, 95% of those test locations increased by $100 a week or better. Those returns have got me excited. Now, I can't wait to install the TournaMAXX system on all of my machines."

A simple call to Merit's Customer Service Center is all that is needed to order a free TournaMAXX kit. When the kit arrives, the next step is to fill out the game initilization form, which can be done via the official TournaMAXX web site at www.tournamaxx.com. Once the modem located on the Maxx's PC board is hooked up, TournaMAXX will link up using the location's existing phone line. Following the easy connection guide on the operator set up screen is the final step to begin using the TournaMAXX Global Player Ranking System.

In most areas, TournaMAXX connects through AT&T/B2000, one of the finest Internet providers in the world. By using the remote operator interface provided by TournaMAXX and by accessing Merit's TournaMAXX Operator website (at www.meritgames.com), operators can use a personal, protected operator screen to view standings, inspect current TournaMAXX earnings, check connection reports, update the books and change game settings and locations -- all without having to ever leave the office.

The TournaMAXX system also sets itself apart from the competition in the way it rewards the operators who use it. Instead of sharing the profits with Merit Industries, operators pay a flat monthly subscription fee and keep the extra earnings for themselves. In addition to presenting operators with a hearty cashbox, TournaMAXX also gives them the opportunity to run localized tournaments while ranking players globally at the same time.

One final feature exclusive to the TournaMAXX system is the creation of the TournaMAXX Mobile Command Center, led by field technicians Ken Brucker and Vipul Patel. This roving base works hand-in-hand with the operator in the set-up and display of the TournaMAXX system. The Command Center also instructs operators on the inner workings of the operator interface.

The Mobile Command Center's technicians are keyed up to exhibit the advantages within the TournaMAXX system. Said Brucker, "TournaMAXX is a refreshing and exciting concept that keeps player competition simple while adding maximum revenue to the operator's cashbox."

Mark Balint of Washington D.C.'s Coastal Vending had nothing but rave reviews for the TournaMAXX system, saying, "Merit is on to something. The TournaMAXX is a real reason to switch to MAXX. It's a must-buy piece."
