Secret Menu Hidden for 20 Years Discovered in Mortal Kombat Arcade Game
A dedicated arcade fan has discovered a secret that was hidden with the Mortal Kombat arcade game for over 20 years!
The secret EJB menu has remained hidden from players for over two decades! The menu, when accessed, allows players to manipulate high scores, view the endings for characters and play a brutal, Galaga-like mini-game.
The EJB Menu was named after the creator, programmer and co-creator of the series Edward. J. Boon, and is accessed by pressing the player one and player two "start" buttons on Mortal Kombat one, two or three. Players then need to enter the code in rapid succession as follows: P1 (x5), P2 (x10), P1 (x2), P2 (x1), P1 (x2), P2 (x3), P1 (x4).
Entering this menu also gives players access to a lot of things they probably shouldn't have access to (if the machine were in a commercial business), like diagnostic tests, bookkeeping information and a game audit that looks for issues like chip failure, frame errors and lockups.
The menu was discovered by a YouTuber who calls himself "YourMKArcadeSource", and he has posted a video of the hidden menu to his channel, which includes advice and handy tips on playing and maintaining classic arcade games.
