Sega Amusements Europe has recently installed its first Derby Owners Club in Ireland. The now well established horseracing and breeding concept has found a good home in Leisureplex Dublin. The site boasts everything from bowling to pool, from video to dodgems and Leisureplex's owners think the Sega product could be the one to raise the standard of their centre even higher. It appears that the natural awareness of the Irish about the horseracing world has meant players have adopted the machine instantly.

The promotions team who attend all new Derby Owners Club sites during the initial days of operation to get the game off to a fanfare start said that they felt almost redundant, "It was like visiting a well established site. It was clear that this is going to be a very strong feature for the venue". Site Manager Robin Featherstone said she was impressed by the machine. "It is a tremendous looking addition to my site, and has been able to hold players for great lengths of time. The warm weather of late is traditionally not good for businesses like this but the Derby Owners Club seems to have something that keeps them coming back and keeps them playing."

Sega Amusements is confident about the game and will be installing further units across the UK in the coming months. Sega's UK Sales Manager Aaron Gilbey said, "The Derby Owners Club has a proven track record and Sega can demonstrate that to any potentially buyer; but it is still always a pleasure when he first realises for himself how much it can take and the impact on his business."
