uWink today announced the kickoff of Club Wink, the only true affinity program for touchscreen games. As the first step in the generation of Club Wink, the company has shipped more than 1,000 Club Wink membership cards to people nationwide, providing game players with extended playing benefits and enhancing revenues at uWink outlets.
Club Wink membership is free to game patrons and entitles them to sneak previews of upcoming games, free games, access to their tournament and regular play scores, as well as local and national uWin tournament rankings, club points, and discounts on merchandise, travel, insurance and more. At test locations, the Club Wink program has increased beverage sales by as much as 15%, particularly on off days such as Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Every week a player receives something of value just for swiping the card.
Bill Cravens, president of Bulldog Amusements, is pleased with the success of Club Wink. "The program has been extremely successful in our outlets," said Cravens. "We have shown that if we can get people in to find out what the Club Wink premium is on a particular day, they will stay, drink and play."
uWink plans to make available the test results and market research in the bar and restaurant magazines as well as at the upcoming trade shows.
"When we considered ways in which uWink could take advantage of its use of the credit card mechanism, instituting the affinity program seemed natural," said Nolan Bushnell. "The effectiveness of Club Wink has surpassed our expectations. We have truly made obsolete terminals that cannot read a magnetic card."
