Vending Industry shocked as British councils get Greedy
In an unbelievable series of events it appears that some local UK councils are starting to charge sites rates for their machines.
Westminster council has started to increase rates on places were coin op equipment is introduced, so making the operator liable for the increase.
Their current focus is on business card and photo machines, (one particular business card machine was subject to a US1740 rate charge per year and the operators have been advised that this should be backdated).
It will only be a matter of time before they turn their attention to Video and Amusement machines.
This would mean that anything from a condom machine in a pub to a large multi site in a motorway service station could be subject to rates, which would inevitably make many sites unprofitable.
