Yesterday, August 8th, Stern Pinball announced in a press release the successful feature of their METALLICA pinball machine at this years Lollapalooza festival this past weekend in Stern's hometown of Chicago.

The METALLICA pin was featured in the Lolla Shop, which is situated on Michigan Ave. across from the festival entrance which is prime real estate for maximum exposure. Another pin was placed in the backstage lounge for the performers and artists to enjoy away from the crowds.

The three-day festival in Grant Park not only sold out in advance in its ninth year, but attendance topped out at a record 300,000 people. C3 took a shotgun approach to genre and demographics when it booked 130 bands and artists to perform on eight stages.

Once a festival specializing in “alternative” music during its early '90s incarnation, Lollapalooza not only includes most variations of rock (from indie to metal) but heavy doses of electronic music and children’s music, as well as hip-hop, R&B and even country (represented by Eric Church and the Court Yard Hounds).

“Lollapalooza is a hometown event and we are a hometown product. We are very proud to show off our Metallica pinball machines to the Lollapalooza crowd,” said Gary Stern, CEO of Stern Pinball.

The performers included legendary children’s entertainer Ella Jenkins (age 88), rising South Side hip-hop star Chance the Rapper (age 20) and a bevy of veteran rock acts, including French hit-makers Phoenix and Goth pioneers The Cure.
